ICARUS

Pilot the ICARUS spaceship in an arcade-style shoot-em-up where taking damage means you get to shoot more bullets! Shoot a bunch of enemies! Even shoot The Sun! (It had it coming.)

Will you cause the end of daylight? Or will you fly too close to The Sun, and crash and burn?

This prototype was created by Davin White for GAME-136 (Game Prototyping) at JCCC for the prompt "Losing is fun". Development of this prototype included the creation of multiple enemies with distinct stats and attack patterns, randomized AI pathing, and extensive balancing to make the primary risk/reward system fun to engage with on repeat playthroughs.

The spaceship sprite was created for this project. The sun and sound effects are pre-made assets. Default shapes are placeholder.
